Here at the Mobile Homestead not only do we love to cook and make Cheeses ,Yogurt , Beer & Wine , Pickles ,sausages and other yummy things just for the pure fun of it ...we also enjoy the fact that by making these sorts of things yourself , you save a good bit of money ,learn a very useful Skill and if ever necessary ...have the ability & knowledge that would help to get you through Bad Times in a nicer, less survival oriented way.
Since our economy isn't in very good shape , food prices are going up everywhere and don't show any sign things will get better and our worlds climate is changing for the worse , were very glad we know how to do the things we do and highly recommend that everyone should learn a few of these Old time skills themselves.
By learning skills of this type you get a fresher product and get to control what goes into it and in a pinch have a product you can barter with. So it's a win-win situation for all .
Library's are a wonderful place to find books on making cheese ,pickles ,sauerkraut ,sausages & hundreds of other tasty things yourself ...so is the internet.

PLEASE READ THIS.....
Lots of people living in tiny apartments and RV's would think ....I'd like to make some of my own foods too ,but surely this sort of equipment must take up lots of space....
To answer that valid question we get asked on occasion...here are a few pictures of our little setup , which allows us to make just about any cheese you can think of , strain yogurt to make cheeses and press our own tofu ...

All of this equipment fits into a very small plastic tote that measures 16 inches long by 10 inches deep by 12 inches wide and only weighs just over 7 pounds.... the only other things you need in addition to this is a 3-5 gallon stainless pot and a spoon and some cheese cultures , which are about the size of a sugar packet ...so this sort of thing is very easy to store and carry...
