For some time I've
wanted to get rid of our Cable TV , because of its high
cost and pretty pitiful programming ...and switch over
to Dish TV .
Finally did it the other day ...but because we rent we
couldn't attach the sat dish to the house .
So I figured out a reasonably inexpensive option and put
together a portable Satellite Dish holder that we'll
take with us when we move South .
The Base is a regular old garden variety roof antenna
holder that Radio Shack sells for $29.00
And the upright post is a 5-1/2 foot section of
galvanized steel pipe ....this is the height I need to
get a signal in our location right now , but when we
move south I'll cut it down a bit smaller .
To keep everything stable and from falling over in winds
... I drove 3 heavy-duty stakes , the type folks use to
secure their dogs ...into the ground and used rope to
attach the mount to the stakes.
Everything ....Seems to work great and it only cost us
around $60.00 to put it together ....which isn't that
bad all things considered .... |
