120-VOLT POWER CORD |
I was searching around on the net for cool
things and ideas I could use for our RV ....and found
this neat website called
Natasha's Camping Site .
It's a great site full of cool
things they did to make their pop-up camper more efficient
and comfortable....
I eventually clicked on
This Page , where they showed how
they got rid of the more typical RV 'House' Power cord setup
and switched over to the much more efficient Marinco 30-Amp
RV kit.
This was a great web search find , because a typical RV
power cord setup can be a major pain in the butt to use. |
 |
Especially when you're pulling up stakes in nasty weather
...where typically the 'House' power cord is wet or even a
bit muddy...so you stand there trying to push the length of
cold , stiff and wet cord back into the Power cable
port. Which I can tell you from experience is no fun at
all....so this Marinco unit is a major improvement .
With the Marinco unit , all you do is ...
For self-converters ....find the location on your
rig where you want this plug-in located , cut out the appropriate
sized hole . And then run the interior main 120-volt cable from your
breaker box to the hole....then you'll wire up the exterior plug-in
and screw the unit down.
Now cut-off the female end of decent length of 30-amp power cord and
wire that up to the Marinco locking female end.
That's about it...( this kit comes with good instructions )
To use it you pull out your power cord (stored in a bag in a
compartment or such )...plug the female end into the exterior main
house plug-in you installed , and lock it in place with the locking
ring....plug the other end in the campgrounds power and that's it.
We picked up our Marinco detachable 30-Amp power conversion kit from
Camping World for $69.99 + shipping.
For folks who need a bit more power ...Camping World sells a 50-Amp
kit for $139.99
